Every year, our inboxes, social media channels and comment sections are filled with hundreds of questions from visitors planning their trip to The Hoppings. Dates & Opening Times 

One of the questions we're asked more than any other is, "When is The Hoppings open?" So let's start with the important bit. The Hoppings returns to Newcastle Town Moor from 19th to 28th June 2026, bringing ten days of rides, attractions, food, entertainment and family fun to the city. Opening times are 2pm to 11pm Monday to Friday and 1pm to 11pm on Saturdays and Sundays, giving visitors plenty of time to enjoy everything the fair has to offer, whether you're planning an afternoon visit with the family or an evening packed with thrills under the lights.

Where is The Hoppings?

The Hoppings takes place on Newcastle's iconic Town Moor, one of the city's most famous open spaces and the traditional home of Europe's largest travelling funfair. Located just minutes from Newcastle city centre, the fair stretches across the Town Moor between Grandstand Road, Claremont Road, Great North Road (A167) and Jesmond Dene Road, making it easy to access from all directions. Visitors will find The Hoppings close to a number of well-known Newcastle landmarks including the Blue House Roundabout, Exhibition Park, Haymarket, Newcastle University and the popular suburbs of Jesmond and Gosforth. Its central location means whether you're travelling by car, Metro, bus or on foot, The Hoppings is easy to reach and perfectly placed for a fantastic family day out in Newcastle. Is there an entrance fee?

No, there is no entrance fee to enter The Hoppings Fun Fair. Admission to the fairground is completely free, allowing visitors to enjoy the atmosphere, browse the attractions, and watch the entertainment without paying to get in. If you wish to go on the rides or take part in attractions, individual ride charges apply. Ride prices vary depending on the attraction, and tokens or payment options are available on-site.

How much are the rides?

Ride prices at The Hoppings Fun Fair typically range from £2 to £6 per ride, depending on the attraction. Family rides, children's rides, and larger thrill rides may vary in price, giving visitors options to suit every budget. To help you save money on your visit, discount vouchers are available to download from our website.

Can I pre-book parking?

No, parking for The Hoppings Fun Fair cannot be pre-booked. Parking is available on a pay-on-arrival basis, making it quick and convenient for visitors attending the event. Simply follow the parking signs when you arrive and pay for your parking on-site. We recommend arriving early during busy periods, weekends, and peak event times to secure a space and make the most of your visit.

What food and drink can I get at The Hoppings?

Feast Street is heading Stateside for 2026, bringing an all-American flavour to Newcastle Town Moor. Inspired by classic USA street food and dining culture, visitors can tuck into everything from smash burgers and loaded fries to smoky barbecue favourites and sweet treats.

Alongside Feast Street USA's themed traders, there will be plenty more food to discover throughout The Hoppings, including a special pop-up from the famous Spud Bros, whose loaded potatoes have become a nationwide sensation. And for those with a sweet tooth, you're in for a treat too. From loaded doughnuts and chocolate-covered churros to traditional fairground sweets and ice cream, there are delicious options waiting around every corner. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite between rides or making a day of eating your way around the fair.

How old is The Hoppings?

The Hoppings is one of the UK's oldest and most famous travelling funfairs, with its modern history dating back to 1882. With over 140 years of history, The Hoppings has welcomed generations of visitors, combining classic fairground attractions with the latest thrill rides and family entertainment.

Are there any toilets on site?

Yes, there are several toilet facilities available throughout The Hoppings Fun Fair, conveniently located around the site for visitors to use during their visit. The event also provides accessible disabled toilets and baby changing facilities, helping to ensure a comfortable experience for families and visitors with additional accessibility needs. All toilet facilities are regularly cleaned and maintained throughout the day to provide a clean, safe, and pleasant environment.

Is the site accessible for people with impaired abilities?

Yes, The Hoppings is committed to making the event as accessible as possible for all visitors. Many attractions are equipped with access ramps and handrails, and there are accessible disabled toilet facilities located throughout the site. However, please be aware that The Hoppings is held on Newcastle Town Moor, which is a large grassed area. While every effort is made to improve accessibility, ground conditions can vary depending on the weather and may become uneven or muddy in places. Can we bring dogs?

This year's line-up features more than 400 rides and attractions, including the world-record-breaking Elevate85, spectacular rollercoasters, giant swings, spinning thrill rides and classic fairground favourites such as the Carousel and Waltzers.
